Answers to Top Questions

  1. How do I connect to OSU Wi-Fi networks?

    What networks are available?

There are four wireless networks available to users on campus: EduRoam, OSU_Secure, OSU_Access, and Visitor. EduRoam is the preferred network for consistent users.

Instructions for connecting to all campus wireless networks, including EduRoam, can be found here: Wireless Network

    Registering your wireless device:

We also highly suggest registering any devices that will use an OSU network using the wireless device registry.  This will allow you to keep your connection without having to sign in repeatedly.

    Having trouble connecting to OSU_Secure?

If you are unable to connect, stop by the Forestry Helpdesk in PFSC 209 or the main campus helpdesk in the Valley Library.

  2. Where can I check out equipment?

    Available equipment:

The Forestry Helpdesk has a variety of equipment available for grad students, staff, and faculty with Forestry accounts.  Examples include: projectors, laptops, various cords and adapters, conference cameras, polycom phones, presenters, laser pointers, webcams, loaner PC workstations and more!

    Reservation procedures:

Checkout equipment can be reserved either in person at the Helpdesk in PFSC 209 or via email.  To ensure you get the equipment you need, we recommend reserving equipment at least a few days in advance.  Please note that the Forestry Helpdesk does not check out equipment to undergraduates.

Media Hub, located in the Valley Library, also has equipment available for checkout to users with ONID accounts.

  3. Where can I find out about printing?

Network printers in Peavy and Richardson are named after the rooms where they are located.  You will want to check the printer name to find where the document went.

Printing fees are charged to your ONID or Forestry account, depending on which accounts you used to sign in.  More information about printing in the College of Forestry, including a description of fees, can be found here: Forestry Printing Services and Policies

  8. How can I get software installed on my personal laptop?

The Forestry Computing Helpdesk can only install site-licensed software on systems under Forestry support.  However, for a service fee we can assist in the process of buying and installing private-licensed software.

Discounted software can be purchased from OSU COSINe through the Software License Coordinator.
