Consume is an application that computes emissions by combustion phase, given (fire) fuel characteristics, lighting patterns, fuel conditions, and meteorological attributes.
Consume allows Land managers and researchers to input fuel characteristics, lighting patterns, fuel conditions, and meteorological attributes with which CONSUME outputs fuel consumption and emissions by combustion phase.
Consume is available from US Forest Service - FERA
You must have administrator rights to install this program.
NOTE: To run Consume you must have Microsoft.NET Framework v1.1 and Visual J#.NET v.1.1 installed on your computer.
Visual J#.NET can be installed from: Q:\Public\Consume 3\vjredist.exe.
Install Consume from: Q:\Public\Consume 3\ or download the latest installer from FERA.
1. Install Microsoft.NET Framework v1.1 from "Q:\Public\Consume 3\Dot_Net Framework_1.1" by following the instructions in "Q:\Public\Consume 3\ReadmeFCR.txt", which are as follows.
2. Run dotnetfx-1.1.exe.
3. Click Yes to begin installation.
4. Accept the license agreement and click Install.
5. Wait for the installation to finish.
6. When finished, click OK.
7. Run NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86.exe.
8. Click OK to begin the installation.
9. Accept the license agreement.
10. Wait for the installation to finish.
11. When the installation completes click OK.
12. In the next window click Yes to restart the computer to finish the installation.
13. Run Hotfix KB928366-X86.exe.
14. Click OK to start the installation.
15. Accept the license agreement.
16. When the installation finishes click OK.
17. In the next window click Yes to restart the computer to finish the installation.
18. Install Visual J - run vjredist.exe
19. Click Yes to start the installation.
20. Click Next at the welcome window to continue.
21. Accept the license agreement and click Next.
22. Click next on the Developer Agreement window.
23. Wait for the installation to complete.
24. Click OK to finish the installation.
25. Install Consume by running "Q:\Public\Consume 3\setup.msi".
26. Click Next on the Welcome screen.
27. Select installation folder and make sure to select the radial "Everyone" button before clicking Next.
28. Confirm the installation and click Next.
29. Wait for the installation to complete.
30. When the installation completes click Close. Launch Consume to make sure it runs.
