7-Zip

7-Zip is open source,  file archiving (compression), decompression and file management application.

Supported formats:

Packing / unpacking: 7z, XZ, BZIP2, GZIP, TAR, ZIP and WIM
Unpacking only: ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, CramFS, DEB, DMG, FAT, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MBR, MSI, NSIS, NTFS, RAR, RPM, SquashFS, UDF, VHD, WIM, XAR and Z.

Description

7-Zip allows users to create Zip files, archives of one or more related files, and extract files from archives. Generally, 7-Zip is used to compress file size so that files can be distributed more quickly and easily over networks. 7-Zip can also be used to extract files from other archive formats including TAR, gzip, rar and CAB.

Additional Information

To unzip files, right click on the file.

Click on  7-zip to view available options.   (Note -  the folder options will be specific to your file and location, ignore the references to ArcFuels in this screenshot)

 

Installation Instructions

You must have Administrator Rights to install this program

1. To install 7-Zip (64-bit version) run \\for-stor.forestry.oregonstate.edu\apps\public\7ZIP\7z-x64  

Or download it from 7-Zip

2. Choose a destination folder, then click Install.

3. The install should finish quickly. Click Close and then launch 7-Zip to make sure it runs.
