NOTE: Visitors operating on the OSU campus wireless network DO NOT have access to OSU resources such as the OSU restricted library resources, Forestry printers, and Forestry licensed software.

Two Wi-Fi networks, Visitor and Eduroam, are available to visitors. These are only meant to be used for short-term use.
Visitors here for 2 weeks or less
- Helpdesk can setup the visitor with a guest network account on the Forestry network (no cost)
- The visitor can utilize any public lab/workstation
- This option offers FULL SUPPORT (Helpdesk, software access, public printing, …)
- Subject to availability, two-week wireless access to the Forestry network can be arranged through the Helpdesk at no cost, but access would be available in ONLY ONE location in Peavy/Richardson.
Visitors here for more than 2 weeks but less than 1 year
Visitor or sponsor pays Helpdesk and Network Account fees (prorated by day) Helpdesk provides a loaner desktop computer (no longer than 1 year).

Visitor arrives with their own laptop (English or foreign language OS)
- FCR charges a minimum of one hour of consulting ($60/hr) to check out the workstation and make sure it is set to receive OS patches and has an active antivirus client which is receiving regular updates.
- The minimum $60 fee also recognizes that visitors here for an extended period of time will invariably utilize some degree of Helpdesk services.
- Once the laptop/workstation meets the patch and antivirus conditions, it is added to the OSU campus wireless network for a period not to exceed 1 year.
- Visitors with an ONID account will register their own laptops on the campus wireless network.
- FCR charges a minimum of one hour of consulting ($60/hr) to check out the workstation and make sure it is set to receive OS patches and has an active antivirus client which is receiving regular updates.
Visitor arrives with their own laptop (English or foreign language OS) but is located outside of OSU campus wireless coverage.
- FCR charges a minimum of one hour of consulting ($60/hr) to determine if the laptop is safe to add to the wired OSU network for a period not to exceed one year.
- A visitor arriving with their own laptop (must be English language OS) may choose to put their laptop on full support (FY23 fee - $42/mo). The laptop would be added to the Forestry network for the duration of their visit and any network-related policies and software should be removed before the visitor’s departure. To qualify for full support the visitor or sponsor must pay the full account fee and the laptop must be on the network for a minimum of three months (or pay an additional one hour consulting fee). All other fees are prorated by day.
Visitors here for more than 1 year
Financial arrangements should be made for full user support through the sponsoring department or make a special appeal to the Forestry Computing Committee.
