The Fuel Characteristic Classification System stores and classifies fuels data as fuelbeds and calculates fuel loadings, carbon and other summary fuel characteristics. It predicts surface fire behavior and a 0-9 index of surface, crown fire and available fuel potentials.
FCCS current version is 4.0 and included in Fuel and Fire Tools (FFS).
Fuel Characteristic Classification (FCCS) is a comprehensive software system to build, characterize, and classify fuelbeds to accurately capture the structural complexity and geographical diversity of fuel components across landscapes and provide the ability to assess elements of human (e.g. logging slash) and natural (e.g. insect and disease) change.
