macOS is the operating system that powers every Mac. It combines the power and stability of UNIX with the more traditional interface of the previous versions of the OS X operating system.

macOS provides greater ease of interaction with Windows based computers as well as some interaction with the Active Directory domain structure we have in place.

Mac OS X (10.0 Cheetah) was first released in 2001. The name was shortened to OS X in 2011 with the release of 10.7 Lion. In 2016, 10.12 Sierra was released and Apple changed the name of the operating system to macOS.
