Mapping Network Drives in Windows

 

Steps to Map a Network Drive

 

1. OFF CAMPUS ONLY: Establish a VPN connection to vpn.oregonstate.edu. For more information about using a VPN, please see When to Use VPN and VPN - Setup for Windows.

 

2. Open File Explorer and on the left side of the window choose "This PC". In the This PC window select "Map Network Drive":

                                                                                                 

 

3. Select a drive letter (for example, "Y"). The letters are arbitrary, so it doesn't matter which letter you choose.

 

                                                                                             

 

4. OPTIONAL: Select the check box to "Reconnect at logon". This will preserve the drive mapping, but may slow down boot time.

 

5. Select the check box to "Connect using different credentials."

 

6. In the blank box titled "Folder", type in the network path to the server containing the files you need.

 

Common Forestry drive paths are listed below:

ONID drives are different depending on whether you are on or off campus:

7. Windows will request your credentials. Enter your OSU username and password in the fields provided:

 

  ONID\{your-username}     or
  {your-username}@oregonstate.edu
