College of Forestry Computing Labs

Computer labs for the College of Forestry are located in Peavy 236, Peavy 240, Richardson 203, the SLC, SLC West, and the SLC Annex.  These labs are open to anyone with a FORESTRY or ONID account.

How to Use the Labs:

  • Log into lab computers using your FORESTRY or ONID credentials.
  • Files created by students should be saved to their ONID or FORESTRY network space, or a USB flash drive. Any personal files/directories saved on any machine's hard disk will be erased upon restart, shutdown, or power failure!
  • When you are finished using the lab, make sure to LOG OFF the computer to minimize security risk. It is not necessary to turn off the computer.

Computer Lab Rules:

  • Playing computer games on ANY machine at ANY time is NOT PERMITTED.
  • Be responsible with food and drink. Cleaning up after yourself is greatly appreciated by the next person that uses the computer. If you need assistance cleaning up any spill, please contact the Forestry Computing Helpdesk in Peavy 222.
  • The labs may NOT be used for personal work such as job-related activities. However, the labs may be used for resumes and letters of application, as a lowest priority.
  • Please keep in mind, the labs are a relatively "NOISE FREE ZONE" and others are trying to work.
  • Computers left unattended for more than 20 minutes will be assumed to be free.
  • Please help to monitor the lab. It belongs to all of us.
  • By using the lab, you agree to abide by these rules and those outlined in the Acceptable Use Policy.

Lab Hours:

  • When a class is in session, only registered students in that class are permitted to use the computers in the room.  Monthly Lab schedules are posted at the entrance of each lab.
  • Labs are open to all FORESTRY/ONID users weekdays from 8am to 6pm.
  • Peavy 240 is the after hours lab, and can be used after 6pm by those with the room combination lock code.  The after hours code can be obtained by signing a Contract of Responsibility at the Forestry Computing Helpdesk in Peavy 222.
